FUTURE NORTH VARDØ

Future North Vardø is a proposal at two scales, addressing both the environmental dangers of increasing shipping in the Arctic and the impending closure of the fishing school in Vardø. A special Arctic Ocean Protected Area is declared, with a series of articles covering environmental policy for maritime traffic within the area. One requirement is the use of a specialised piloting crew, who will be trained in the new facility in Vardø- a fishing school, pilot training centre and service centre for Arctic vessel traffic, located in a refurbished (empty) building at Vardø’s harbour entrance.
