IRON STORIES

by Bendik Stette

Jean Painleve (1902-1989) was a photographer and filmmaker who specialized in underwater fauna. His work “Shrimp stories” takes a detailed look at the life of a shrimp, looking at things like the shrimp's claws and antennas, its system of predation, digestion, and metamorphosis.

In my project "Iron stories" I use the metaphor of the shrimp as a tool of investigation and having it as the main character in the final proposal. My thesis was that the three categories, Predation, Digestion and Metamorphosis, was a way of understanding and telling the story of an iron mine in Kirkenes, Norway. A/S Sydvaranger.
