THE OTHER 90%
by Katie Åtland & August Kraft Fossmark
Currently in Norway, an astounding 90% of slate extracted from quarries is discarded. The project explored this material through site visits, developing a material vocabulary, and experimenting with slate in printmaking.
The final proposal utilizes waste slate fragments to produce “Naturbetong”, inspired by Erling Visjø and his work in the Oslo Government Quarter, including test samples made by the authors.
