WHALE’S COUNCIL
by Magnus Gjesdal
Through the eyes of the fin whale- our marine development over time.
The mythical whale god Hafgufa issues a call to council, and the fin whale has the task of “reporting” back on the last 400 years of human ocean exploitation.
Sound is the whale’s way to navigate and communicate, but increasing and intensifying sound pollution makes it impossible. As the whale council came together, other whale voices could be heard. The whales themselves express their desperation about the unbearable levels of sonar interference in the ocean- something the video listener is also exposed to.
